These free resources are designed to help teach a number of different topics and concepts using the Giant’s Causeway. There are resources for the Raspberry Pi and also for Minecraft edu.
Raspberry Pi Resources
In this series of lessons using Minecraft and Python on the Raspberry Pi, students develop their understanding of programming using the Giant’s Causeway as the location. The lessons build up gradually to the point where students will have enough knowledge to recreate a rough version of the Causeway.
Minecraft Edu Resources
We have created 3 lessons for the Minecraft Edu edition using our Giant’s Causeway map. You can choose from a Geology, Maths or Science investigation – or try all 3!
You will need to download the Minecraft Edu map of the Giant’s Causeway:
This lesson is designed to help students understand the geological processes that led to the formation of the Giant’s Causeway.
This lesson provides a mathematical focus working with 3D shapes that form columns, similar to those found at the Giant’s Causeway.
This lesson provides a context for pupils to plan a scientific investigation within Minecraft. They design a mine cart network for a tourist attraction, based on the railway line that is used to transport visitors to the Giant’s Causeway.
